Andy Stanton Comes to Town

World-famous author of the best-selling Mr Gum books, Andy Stanton, dropped in to talk to Key Stage 2 and Year 2 in an hour-long assembly that was described as “hilarious”, “amazing,” and “really weird”. He was certainly inspiring – every one of his books disappeared from the library by break time the next day! The visit was all thanks to a letter Ellis in Year 4 had written to Andy inviting him down – nice work Ellis!

Wonderful Week of Words

Our week-long celebration of words and writing was a great success! We were visited by the picture book team of Alan Durant and Sue Mason, the poet Roger Stevens, fiction writer and local author Sam Watkins, award-winning non-fiction writer Richard Platt and artist Nadia Chalk. The children tried their hands at making books, drawing comic strips, writing poems, inventing characters, making up words and taking part in a poetry slam.
